The Institute of Internal Auditors is the only international body in the world dedicated to Internal Auditing. Incorporated in  November 1941 in Altamonte Springs, Florida USA, IIA has over 160,000 members in internal auditing, governance and internal control, IT audit, education, and security from more than 165 countries. The world's leader in certification, education, research, and technological guidance for the profession, The Institute serves as the profession's watchdog and resource on significant auditing issues around the globe.


IIA organizes  important conferences and seminars for professional development, producing leading-edge educational products, certifying qualified auditing professionals, providing quality assurance reviews and benchmarking, and conducting valuable research projects throughThe IIA Research Foundation  are just a few of The Institute's many activities. 

The IIA also provides internal audit practitioners, executive management, boards of directors and audit committees with standards, guidance, and information on best practices in internal auditing.

The IIA offers various services to its members worldwide including wide range of  research publications, Standards of Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, Statement of Responsibilities, Code of Ethics, Conferences, Seminars and Workshops.

The IIA conducts the Certified Internal Auditor Examination [CIA Examination] which is the only recognized certification in Internal Audit all over the world. IIA also publishes a bi-monthly journal “The Internal Auditor” which contains valuable contributions and researched articles by internal audit practitioners.

The Institute is a dynamic international organization that meets the needs of a worldwide body of internal auditors.

IIA’s mission is to be the primary international professional association, organized on a worldwide basis, dedicated to the promotion and development of the practice of internal auditing.

ABOUT IIA MADRAS CHAPTER

The IIA Madras Chapter was inaugurated on February 22, 1977by Dr.Easo John, then Managing Director, Madras Fertilizers Limited.
During the last 30 years, the Madras Chapter has made a significant contribution to the growth of the Internal Auditing profession in this part of the country. 
The Chapter has been organizing Training Workshops, Seminars and Conferences. It also brings out a Chapter Journal "Internal Audit Universe".
The Chapter also organizes the CIA examination administered by IIA headquarters.
